Applying for help

Before applying please review what we do and how we help. Applications for financial assistance follow a robust process to ensure that funds are distributed as fairly as possible to those who meet the charity’s eligibility criteria. The application process for financial assistance involves:

  • Identification of a specific need for assistance – This can include items such as white goods (for example a new washing machine), carpeting or part payment towards a specific need.
  • Gaining the support of an official agency or third party sponsor - To prevent fraud and ensure that funds are really needed and properly distributed, applications can be made only by an employee of an independent third party sponsor (such as a housing officer at the recipient's housing association) or of an official agency (such as a support worker at a mental health trust) on behalf of the recipient.
  • Application form filling and submission by an official agency or third party sponsor – We will only accept application forms filled in and submitted by an official agency or third party sponsor which is prepared to vouch for the application and take responsibility for the distribution of funds, if awarded, in the manner agreed by LHH.

We welcome referrals from any recognised social care, health, housing support, charity or other relevant agency.

Please download the grant application form available in either PDF (for completion by hand) or Word (form can be electronically completed), read page 1 of form carefully with regards to Application Guidelines and Grant Awards Criteria, complete fully and email or send with a stamped addressed envelope to:

We have many requests from individuals for application forms to be sent because they do not have access to a computer/printer. Please note you should ask your sponsor to download the form; if they are unable to do so, they should contact LHH directly for assistance.
